Chinese Name: Dang Yu Jian

Birthday: January 8, 2008

Gender: Male

Special Needs: Missing lower left arm

Charlie was found inside the gate of a residential building in Luoyang, Henan Province, on July 28, 2008, and was taken to a local orphanage by the police. He was examined by a doctor and found to be healthy except for his partially missing arm. He remained at Luoyang orphanage until he came into our care on April 6, 2010.

We have found Charlie to be a most adorable little guy.  He is really intelligent and loves to be teased and played with. And he teases back--a sign of that intelligence.  He speaks very well and will imitate any sound you make to him.  He uses his partial left arm to stabilize whatever he is holding, and he can hold and turn pages of a book as if he had two arms and hands.

He will lower his head and look at you through lowered lids to tease, but he can also use the same method to communicate that he is upset with you.  He plays well by himself but gets very upset if another child takes something from him.  Then his temper tantrums can be heard far away!  At first he appears to be inconsolable at those times, but often he can be placated with hugs and cuddling.  In spite of his busyness, he really enjoys being held. He will snuggle against you and even give you kisses when he is in the right mood. This little guy will be a force in his world when he grows up!

Charlie has already been matched to Dan and Jennifer Marquardt from Chicago, who have previously adopted from Harmony.
