Mark

Chinese Name: Zheng Dong
Birthday: December 26, 2008
Gender: Male
Special Needs: Severe congenital heart disease - Repaired April, 2010
Mark was found abandoned at the gate of the Zhengzhou Children's Welfare Institute on the morning of May 26, 2009. He was wearing a pink baby jacket and was wrapped in a red blanket. He came into our care on August 31, 2009.
His heart condition was severe, and not too long ago he would have had no hope. But a surgeon at Fu Wai Hospital in Beijing developed a new procedure, and Mark was a candidate for the surgery! As many of you know and have followed Mark's progress, he had a 9-hour surgery on April 2, 2010, and we were delighted to report that it was a SUCCESSFUL SURGERY!!! He went through several episodes in the following month of high fever and some type of infection. With so many of you praying for him, he overcame and is now back at Harmony House regaining his strength.
As you can see in the last picture above, Mark's color is now normal--no more purple lips and fingertips. We are so thankful to everyone who prayed for Mark, and to those of you who sacrificed to pay for his expensive surgery, we are without words to express our heartfelt gratitude.
Now that he is recuperating and can get enough oxygen through his blood, the lethargy is becoming a thing of the past as he is quickly becoming a normal toddler.
Mark is named for our dear friend and Christian brother in China, Mark Wei (aka Wei Lao).
